An Invitation to Respond: Portsmouth Literature and Literacy 2025

Portsmouth Creates invites creatives and community groups to submit activations responding to the theme of Literature and literacy running across the calendar year for 2025.

Portsmouth Creates role will be to connect and amplify, both locally and nationally. This is a great opportunity to profile Portsmouth’s rich and vibrant heritage, making this a landmark celebration in Portsmouth.

What We’re Looking For: Whether you’re an artist, writer, performer, or part of a community group, we want you to activate your ideas, collectively creating a programme that represents all that could and should be included as part of this programme in 2025.

Please include:

• Timeframe: Proposed dates and duration of your activity.
• Costing: Estimate of costs. Indicate whether you will be looking for funding, and what percentage of the project requires funding.
• Audiences/Participants: Who your activity is aimed at, how they will be involved, and how this supports strengthening/addressing the need in the city around literacy levels and engagement with literature.
• Inclusion: Whose voices will be heard and whose stories will be told through this work.
