This initiative has enabled us to support several creative organisations to successfully leverage funding of £373,713.00 into the city’s creative economy and has created over 80 new jobs in the sector.

Working in partnership with Portsmouth City Council, the match funding pot was put in place to leverage successful project grant funding from Arts Council England. With applicants being able to access up to 10% match funds for applications of £30,000 and under.

Gemma Nichols, CEO of Portsmouth Creates, emphasised the organisation’s commitment to driving growth and potential across the city’s creative and cultural economy.

“Since the launch of our new strategic vision, Portsmouth Creates has been providing support services tailored to meet the evolving needs of Portsmouth’s creative sector. We are fortunate to have active founding partners including Portsmouth City Council, Arts Council England, University of Portsmouth, and Victorious Festival, whose strategic vision aligns to that of our own, therefore enabling us to deliver collaborative impact in a joined-up way. The ripple effect of this means we are able to add capacity and a spotlight to the creative landscape in Portsmouth.”

The collaboration between Portsmouth City Council and Portsmouth Creates underscores a shared commitment to enable the creative sector to thrive in the city.

We offer a range of support and development aimed at building the resilience of the creative and cultural sector.
